Summer Camp 2026: On the Wheel — July 13, 15, 17

Kids bring home: 2–3 fired wheel-thrown bowls or cups (ready for pickup 2–3 weeks after camp ends)

Bring: Water bottle, snack, closed-toe shoes, clothes that can get clay on them, and a hair tie if hair is long enough to fall forward.
We provide: All clay, tools, glazes, aprons, and instruction.

Where: Heart & Hearth Pottery, 436 S Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga

Good fit for: Self-motivated kids ages 7–14 who can work independently and follow instructions in a group setting.

Photos: We sometimes take photos during camp for the studio's Instagram and website. If you'd prefer your child not appear, just let us know in writing at registration.

Three mornings of throwing, trimming, trying again, and learning the wheel for real.

This is the week for kids who've watched the potter's wheel and wanted a turn.

Three focused mornings of throwing, trimming, and the kind of hand-memory that only comes from doing it again and again. Monday is centering and pulling walls — the hardest part, and the most satisfying when it finally clicks. Kids will throw cylinders, collapse a few, laugh, and try again. Wednesday, they'll trim Monday's pieces into finished bowls or cups, then get back on the wheel with more confidence and feel.

Friday, they'll trim their second round and finish everything with underglaze. The pieces go to the kiln and come back two to three weeks later. By the end of the week, their hands will know something they didn't know on Monday.

MINIMUM ENROLLMENT
Camp runs with a minimum of 3 enrolled students. Families will be notified in advance if minimum enrollment is not met.

ABOUT THE WORK
Ceramic firing is unpredictable. Cracking, warping, glaze defects, and firing loss are normal risks of working with real clay and real heat — we'll always let you know if something happens to your piece. Pieces are held for 30 days after firing; unclaimed work after that becomes studio property.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Summer Camp has its own refund window because we reserve staffing, supplies, and space specifically for your child:
- 21+ days before camp: full refund minus $25 admin fee
- 8–20 days before camp: 50% refund OR 50% studio credit (your choice)
- 7 or fewer days before camp: no refund, no credit
