Purchase Options & Cancellation Policy

Heart & Hearth Pottery · Version 3.2 · Effective April 23, 2026

This policy explains, in one place, every type of purchase you can make with Heart & Hearth Pottery and exactly how to cancel it. It consolidates and expands on the cancellation provisions in the Terms & Conditions and the Refund, Return & Studio Care Policy. In the event of a conflict, the more consumer-protective provision controls.

  • Cancellation by you, 7+ days before the first session: full refund or transferable studio credit.

  • To cancel: email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com with your name and the class date. Cancellation takes effect on the date the email is received.

7.3 Multi-Week Course or Program

  • Medical cancellations with documentation are reviewed case-by-case and may receive studio credit regardless of timing.

  • To cancel: email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com with camper name, camp session, and reason.

7.5 Monthly Membership (Recurring Auto-Renewal)

The Studio Membership and any other recurring enrollment is an automatically renewing subscription governed by California's Automatic Renewal Law (Business & Professions Code § 17600 et seq.).

What You Agreed To

  • Your subscription renews automatically each month on the same calendar date.

  • Payment is charged to the card on file on the renewal date.

  • Renewal continues until you cancel — the studio will not automatically stop billing.

  • The price and scope of membership benefits are subject to change with 30 days' notice.

How to Cancel

  • Email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com from the email associated with your membership. Include the word "cancel" and your name.

  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access through the paid month, and no further charges will be made.

  • Partial-month refunds are not available for membership cancellations.

  • Cancel anytime. There is no minimum commitment, cancellation fee, or penalty.

  • You will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation within 3 business days.

Free Trials or Promotional Offers

  • If your membership began with a free trial or discounted introductory rate, you must cancel before the trial ends or the introductory period expires to avoid being charged the regular rate.

  • The introductory period and first-charge date are disclosed at signup and in your welcome email.

Renewal Reminders

  • You will receive an email notice before any change in your subscription terms, price, or length.

  • You may request a current statement of your subscription status at any time.

7.6 Kids Club & Family Recurring Enrollment

  • Cancellation rules follow the Monthly Membership provisions in Section 7.5.

  • To pause rather than cancel, email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com. Pauses are available for up to 60 days per calendar year at the studio's discretion.

  • If a child ages out of the program, the studio will contact the parent to transition or close the enrollment.

7.7 Gift Cards & Studio Credit

  • Gift cards purchased for cash or credit are not refundable, cash-redeemable only as required by California Civil Code § 1749.5 (balances under $10 are cash-redeemable on request).

  • Studio credit issued due to cancellations, makeups, or goodwill does not expire for 3 years from the date of issue.

  • Gift cards cannot be "cancelled" after purchase; unused balances remain valid until redeemed, transferred, or cashed out where applicable.

  • Lost or stolen gift cards can be replaced with proof of purchase at the studio's discretion.

  • To request a cash-out of a balance under $10 or to inquire about a gift card, email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com.

7.8 Private Events, Parties & Date Nights

  • A non-refundable booking deposit is required to secure the date.

  • Cancellation 30+ days before event: deposit converts to studio credit valid for 12 months.

  • Cancellation 14–29 days before event: 50% of the deposit converts to studio credit; the remainder is forfeited.

  • Cancellation less than 14 days before event: deposit forfeited.

  • Rescheduling (rather than cancelling) is available once at no cost if requested 14+ days in advance, subject to availability.

  • To cancel or reschedule: email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com with the event date and booking name.

7.9 Retail Purchases (Clay, Pottery & Gift Items)

  • Opened clay and consumable supplies are final sale and cannot be returned.

  • Unopened, unused retail items in original condition may be returned within 14 days of purchase or delivery for a refund or exchange, less any shipping costs.

  • Handmade pottery is sold as-is, reflecting the variability of ceramic work; returns are accepted only for verified damage in transit (see Shipping Policy, Section 5.6).

  • To request a return: email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com with the order number and reason. Do not ship items back until you receive return instructions.

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method within 7–10 business days of receipt of the returned item.

7.10 Cancellation by the Studio

The studio may cancel a class, workshop, camp, event, or membership benefit due to low enrollment, illness, instructor unavailability, facility issues, utility interruption, weather, emergency, or other operational needs.

  • You will be notified as soon as reasonably possible by email or phone.

  • You will be offered your choice of a full refund, transferable studio credit, or rescheduling.

  • The studio is not liable for incidental costs (travel, childcare, time off work) associated with cancelled sessions.

7.11 How to Cancel — Contact Methods

All cancellations must be made in writing so there is a clear record for both parties. Phone messages, in-person statements, and social media direct messages are not accepted as cancellation notices.

  • Email: studio@heartandhearthpottery.com

  • Mailing address: 436 S Topanga Canyon Blvd, Topanga, CA 90290

  • Include: your name, the purchase type (class, camp, membership, etc.), the date or program, and the word "cancel."

  • Cancellation takes effect on the date the studio receives your written notice.

  • You will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation within 3 business days.

7.12 Refund Timelines

  • Refunds to the original payment method: 7–10 business days after the cancellation is confirmed.

  • Studio credit: issued same-day or next business day, redeemable for 3 years from date of issue.

  • Check refunds (rare): 14 business days after the cancellation is confirmed.

  • If a refund has not arrived in the stated timeframe, email studio@heartandhearthpottery.com and we will trace it with the payment processor.

7.13 No-Show & Late Arrival

  • A no-show is not the same as a cancellation. No refund or credit is issued for missed sessions without prior written notice.

  • Late arrival does not extend class time; a late arrival of more than 30 minutes may be treated as a no-show at the instructor's discretion.

  • Repeated no-shows in a recurring enrollment may result in loss of reservation privileges for future sessions.

7.14 Transfers to Another Person

  • In some cases, you may transfer a paid enrollment to another person if you cannot attend.

  • Transfers require written approval by the studio in advance.

  • Transfers are not permitted for memberships, programs that include personalized kits, or camps where registration materials are already processed.

7.15 Hardship & Exceptions

The studio recognizes that life happens. If a strict policy application would cause hardship — for example, a death in the family, medical emergency, or active-duty deployment — contact the studio in writing. Exceptions are reviewed case-by-case at the studio's discretion and are not guaranteed but will be considered in good faith.

7.16 Your Rights Under California Law

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under California consumer protection law, including but not limited to:

  • California Civil Code § 1749.5 (gift card cash-redemption rights).

  • California Business & Professions Code § 17600 et seq. (Automatic Renewal Law).

  • California Civil Code § 51 (Unruh Civil Rights Act).

  • California Consumer Privacy Act, where applicable (see Privacy Policy).

  • The Federal Fair Credit Billing Act for credit card disputes.

7.17 Changes to This Policy

The studio may update this Purchase Options & Cancellation Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email to active customers and members at least 30 days before taking effect. For recurring subscriptions specifically, any price or term change is disclosed in advance as required by the California Automatic Renewal Law.
